Welcome to the 33rd annual Breckenridge Festival of Film! For over a quarter century BFF has celebrated the art of filmmaking. Each spring a unique and varied array of independent films, premieres, receptions, educational programs and retrospectives honoring featured guests takes place high in the Colorado Rockies.
In a spectacular setting 9,600 feet above sea level, Breckenridge is located approximately 80 miles west of Denver via interstate highway 70. The town was established in 1859 and retains much of the look and historic charm of its prior heyday as a late 1800’s mining town. Today, Breckenridge is an internationally known ski resort providing summer and fall visitors a myriad of recreational opportunities from biking, hiking, sailing and rafting, to fishing, golf, tennis and horseback riding. Breckenridge is home to two ice rinks, as well as a full recreation center with a climbing wall, skate park and a Jack Nicklaus designed public golf course. The town offers historical tours, art galleries, many shops and fine dining.
2012 quotes from filmmakers
“Supremely organized, wonderful venues, fun parties, insightful panels and the most friendly Festival staff we’ve had the pleasure of meeting. Our screening was packed, the Q&A was lively and we picked up an award to boot. Thank you BFF for an absolutely wonderful weekend!”
—-BORN & RAISED
“The quality of the films you chose were of such high standard and so inspiring and impressive in every way, I still think about them and I know they will all be part of my development as a filmmaker. And the get-togethers you organized for the filmmakers and the staff to meet and mingle were not only a lot of fun but really supportive for the filmmakers to meet each other and get to know each others work. I feel like I made friends in Breckenridge I always want to stay in contact with.”
—Korinna from Shouting Secrets
“Thank you so much for a great festival and an unforgettable experience! We had a great time, and your volunteers are just wonderful people, period. We really enjoyed meeting you all and hope to return soon!”
—Jeanette Castillo from The Performance of Drowning
“Words cannot express what an honor it was to be a part of your enthusiastic festival held in such a breathtaking location. From the opening evening reception, where many friends were made within the hour, to the awards ceremony, where we were sad to be saying our goodbyes, to trying to view each and every film between forums and receptions, the experience could not have been any more satisfying. We thank you and are already contemplating our next film in hopes of seeing you all again”
