This blog is jam packed full of fun and unique things to do this Fall in Breckenridge in addition to awesome places you should scope out to capture those amazing aspen tree shades of red and gold. Although Breck is magical in the winter, visit us at 9,600 feet in the Fall to experience this mountain city during a different season.

Celebrate Fall with Wine

For the first time this year, Breckenridge is hosting the Breckenridge Wine Classic from September 15 to 18. The Breckenridge wine classic brings together some of the best wines from around the world, paired with some of the best food, and outdoor activities to compliment the Breckenridge lifestyle. From a Farm to Mountain Wine Dinner to a Hair of the Dog Brunch, this classic offers a lot of event options for the libations aficionado. Plus – stay at one of our 170 Breckenridge vacation rental properties during the classic and save 20% off a 2-night stay or more with promo code WINE16.

Take an Autumn foliage bike ride

Ditch the car, put away those hiking shoes for now, jump on a bike and hit the tracks to experience the stunning display of the Aspen leaves and mountain shrubs transitioning into stunning Fall colors. Some of the best spots in Breck to bike and leaf peep? For a Mountain Bike excursion – hit up Aspen Alley located south of the Boreas Pass winter trailhead. This ride offers switchbacks paved by Aspen groves and a peaceful mountain ride. For a less intense ride, take Wellington road to French Gulch road and cruise along the road for excellent views of the Ten Mile range and Fall colors.

Live bluegrass at the Riverwalk Center

Nothing compliments Autumn more than live bluegrass music at a riverside venue in the mountains. The Devil Makes Three – a vintage American blues and folk band, will be headlining at the Riverwalk Center on Saturday, October 15 at 8 PM. If you haven’t seen a show at the Riverwalk Center before, you are in for a real treat. The venue offers stunning views of Breck ski resort, and is located in the heart of town next to the Blue River Plaza. A great spot to stay while in Breck for a Riverwalk Center performance is Park Avenue Lofts or One Breckenridge Place – both complexes are within a couple minutes walking distance to the Riverwalk Center.

Learn the history of Breck

Who doesn’t love a little history, right?! History buff or not, Breckenridge has an intriguing past that explains more about the town and its legacy, pre-popular ski resort destination. Start off your history tour with a mine excursion. Breckenridge has hidden mines located throughout the town that signifies gold discovery back in 1859. Then head to Boreas Pass road to visit the high line railroad park to learn more about Breck’s railroad history. Visit the Breckenridge Welcome Center in the Blue River Plaza on Main Street for more info on other history tours.

Sip on Craft Spirits during the Breckenridge Still on the Hill Festival

On the sure-to-be crisp fall afternoon of Sunday, October 22, head over to the Riverwalk Center to enjoy craft spirits from about 35 distillers including the local Breckenridge Distillery. Every year, this festival helps to end fall and welcome winter with live music, drinks, snacks and a cool vibe.

Explore downtown Breck

September and October days in Breck can bring beautiful sunny days with fresh cool air. This is a great time to walk around downtown and stop at one of the many shops, grab a cup of coffee, dine at one of the many restaurants, or take in the views while relaxing on park benches. We recommend visiting Coffee Depot in Main Street Station, ordering a flight of beer at Apres Handcrafted Libations and grabbing a sweet or savory crepe from the Crepes a la Cart. Visit us on the north end of Main Street to chat about the perfect lodging option for your next vacation to Breckenridge.
