Vacation Rental Summary
This is our second time staying in the Riverbend Lodge. You cannot beat the location (right at the base of the snowflake lift, which can connect you to anywhere you want to go on the mountain). As a heads up, you must be able to ski/snowboard off the lift to get to the main bases of the mountain. That being said, the condo itself had a few major issues. First, the temperature in the entire condo never dropped below 72 degrees. The upstairs loft area where the master bedroom is never dropped below 75. This made it extremely uncomfortable to sleep. We even tried turning the thermostat down to 60 degrees to no avail. Secondly, the master bedroom sheets were disgusting! Both the comforter and sheets looked like they had not been washed. We could see mascara marks on the pillow cases and there were long black hairs all over the sheets! We called Great Western Lodging and they sent over a cleaning person to change the sheets. Even after she changed the sheets, the comforter was placed back on the bed, unchanged, which resulted in a few hairs being put back on the bed. We ended up stripping off the blanket and using one from the closet. Based on the sheets, we were leery of the other linens in the unit. You cant beat the location, but we will most likely stay in a different unit next time. For paying close to $2000 for 3 nights, we expected better.
The place was overall fairly nice, good location. Easy enough to get to snowflake lift (though lift isn't that accessible to other terrain - as compared to base camps) Fairly well stocked re: fixtures/appliances/non-perishables. We had a few issues during our stay which were attempted to be fixed, but some could not be. I spoke to the office secretary and asked that someone discuss with me regarding the issues during our stay. I was told someone would call me within two days... It's been 2 weeks. It's unfortunate to knock off a star or two for poor service/follow-up, but I think it is important given that the only interactions we had were an email beforehand and an automatic followup email which asked for this review.
Great trip, great accommodations. The sounds from the Blue River just below our balcony window were soothing and relaxing; set the pace and mood for the entire trip. Gwl staff was super helpful; from assistance at finding bicycles, replacing a dead battery, maximizing our experience of th 4th of July parade & fireworks display, indeed Breckinridge as a whole. We're already anticipating our return. Thanks GWL.
Condo was fine. Location was great. Outdoor Hot tub not working during our stay.
Dear Skier -
Thank you for your review! We always like to hear from our guests and this is great information for us to make sure that our units are getting the attention needed and guest’s are experiencing exceptional customer service.
I have shared this with our Operations Department to see why the Outdoor Hot Tub was not working during your stay and to make sure it is fully up and running now. Good to hear that the Indoor Hot Tub on site was working, but I will follow up on the Outdoor one.
Your review of your stay in Riverbend Lodge #217 is greatly appreciated and please let me know if there is anything I can assist with for your next trip to Breckenridge!

The condo was really comfortable, clean and well furnished. My husband and I were there with adult son and his friend. Plenty of space for two couples. Kitchen was very well equipped--had everything I needed. And it really is ski in/ski out! Lift was right out the building door. Only thing that would improve this rental was if location for check in and check out were on premises. Made it a little inconvenience the day we checked out since we were staying in the area to ski that day. Highly recommend.
I must have spend 7 hours researching where to stay in Brekenridge. What caught my eye with Great Western Lodging was their updated condos and more importantly, ski in/ski out. I spoke to Sondra on the phone as well as exchanged emails and she was incredibly helpful. The pictures online we spot on: there were no surprises (except the indoor parking that I didn't take notice to and loved). the condo itslef was perfect for the 5 of us. The check in process was easy and the best part was walking 100 yeards to the charlift in the morning. We walked to dinner every night; very easy and nice to be close, but not in downtown. I would definitely come back. We didn't want to leave; we may need a bigger condo next time for more people but I would recommend Riverbend for sure.
