Make sure your rooms face away from the busy, noisy street side! Spacious and comfy but dated, but who cares? You're mostly outside anyway. Steam shower didn't work, which was disappointing. Hot tubs were awesome!
Manager Response:
Dear Douglas,

We are please to hear you enjoyed your stay and visit to Breckenridge! Unfortunately, the homeowners association has elected to cut off all water to the steam showers throughout the building as the mildew was causing unit damages. I will notify maintenance to properly mark them as unusable, we apologize for any inconveniences.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us, please give our office a call (970)453-1009 in the future if we can ever assist you with anything on your next stay!

The best thing about this rental is the location. We were able to walk to everything (it was the summer) we needed to except the overnight parking area. The next best thing is that we were allowed to rent it for two nights--where as a lot of rentals require a 3 night minimum stay. The price was reasonable. The condo is right out of the 70's, the WI-FI is extremely slow and if you plan to cook bring everything you need, including basics like salt and pepper. This was a little bit of a shock to us as the other places we have rented have always had some basic cooking supplies. Parking was a hassle too as we only received 1 parking permit so we had to take one car to an overnight parking lot a few miles away.
Perfect Layout for our Situation

Sawmill Creek #406 is a little dated and in need of some repair, but it fit our situation so perfectly all of that could be overlooked. We have three daughters and one boyfriend came along. Three beds in the loft, a comfortable master bedroom, and a boyfriend bedroom could not have accommodated us any better. We have stayed in the Keystone/Breckenridge area for the past 15 summers. The past four years we have stayed at Sawmill Creek due to its location and comfort. Next summer we will again plan on lodging with Great Western at Sawmill Creek. We may try to get #406 again--depending on how many boyfriends come along!! Thank you.

We love Breckenridge and have been there for 10 years or so. We love dealing with GW Lodging because they are very professionals and willing to help. I needed a two bedroom and loft apartment and I have stayed in that building before. I thought the apartment has a very nice layout and the loft was great, large and the bathroom has been renovated. The rest of the apartment is very dated, the rug and carpet are old and not in good shape, the walls have cracks on them and the kitchen and bathrooms are dated. The kitchen was not heavily stocked and the master bath was just ok. The steam shower was not working. Besides that we had a very nice time there, but I would probably not rent in that apartment again because of the things I said. In season they charge too much for this unit for the quality I was expecting.

Ski in. 50 ft to shuttle. Plenty of parking. Older bldg. Could use maintenance on heating systems. Electric heat challenging to operate.

If you have the opportunity to find lodging that is closer to the slopes or newer, take it. We made last minute plans for President's Weekend, and this was the best pick available. Ok, first the positives: the units are fairly spacious and clean, and access is convenient for ski in at the end of the day. Now for the rest. First, check-in is a hassle. You have to drive to the Great Western office on Main Street, pick up your keys and give them a credit card, and then navigate to your condo by yourself. Not a big deal if you know the town and it's daytime, but we had neither luxury when we arrived. Next bummer: the only way to start your ski day is to hike to the gondola or take the city bus to an entry lift point. Not convenient. The buildings are dated, 70's era, and lack the amenities you might desire in a newer facility. Our unit had a kitchen straight out of the 70's, and a funky steam shower in the master bath that emitted a sour smell. Not sure what was growing inside... As far as location, other than the inconvenience to the ski area, Main Street is a 5 minute stroll, and each restaurant we ate at took no longer than 10 minutes to traverse to. There is a liquor store essentially across the street, a 2 minute hike which made drowning my sorrows at the less than optimal lodging arrangements I'd made more tolerable. The hot tubs are a joke- they are indoors- inside an enclosed room with windows that look out on the peaceful and majestic view of... more condos. All in all, as a budget solution, Sawmill works, but you get what you pay for.

I have shared your review with the owner concerning the need for updates to the unit, especially the master bathroom. The front desk office staff has been followed up with as well, as all guests should always get a map to the unit, as well as detailed out written directions to make arrival as easy as possible - thank you for bringing this to my attention!

Please let me know if there is anything I can assist with for your next trip to Breckenridge!
