Top things to do in Breckenridge in fall

Few travel destinations offer the abundance of fun activities you’ll find in Breckenridge. Everyone in your group will find things to do that they will truly enjoy!

Fall is full of festivals to celebrate with great food, drink, and annual special events. The Breckenridge Wine Festival kicks off the Breck fall festival season on September 15th through 17th. The Breck Film Festival happens September 15th through 18th and features film screenings, parties, forums, special events, and the Filmmaker Brunch.  Breckenridge Strings, Ciders, & Sours also takes place in mid-September, from the 16th through 18th.

Breckenridge Oktoberfest will be back this year on September 23 through the 25th and trust us, this weekend-long festival is a big deal! The action is on historic Main Street, where “Munich meets the mountains.” Enjoy gorgeous views, brews and yummy food, music, and more. On Saturday, booths typically open at 11:00 a.m. serving beer, sausage, apple strudel, and other German foods and treats. More details of this year’s celebration will be coming soon.

You can view fall foliage by car, bus, bike, ATV, or by foot. Early to mid-September is when you’ll begin to see leaves change to vibrant reds and yellows mixed with the evergreens. The golden glow of the aspens is an autumn sight to behold!

Breckenridge has hundreds of miles of trails to enjoy while exercising in the fresh air. Bike the Blue River Trail or hike Boreas Pass Road for stunning foliage views (or pick from a selection of scenic Summit County trails like the rec path).

Plan a guided fly-fishing trip to catch large rainbows and brown trout. The Blue River, Eagle River, Colorado River, Arkansas River, and South Platte River are all located within an hour’s drive of Breckenridge. You can also explore small streams, reservoirs, and alpine lakes like Lake Dillon, and typical conditions for fall fishing are excellent. You’ll need to purchase a fishing license from the Colorado Parks and Wildlife, or through a local guide service store, for everyone in your party aged 16 or older.
