Summertime in Breckenridge is a beautiful time of year to visit. The temperatures hover around 70 degrees throughout July, providing the perfect environment to explore our beautiful area comfortably. If you want to celebrate Independence Day in a great location with plenty of events to enjoy for the whole family, Breckenridge is where you need to be. 

July 4th Schedule of Events

From 7:00 am to 6:00 pm, your day can be jam-packed with events and experiences the whole family will enjoy! 

7:00AM - 11:00AM - Independence Day 10K

Kick-off your 4th of July celebration with the Independence Day 10k Trail Run! Enjoy some of the best views in the area as you complete the race. The race usually sells out, so we recommend registering early!

9:30AM - 11:30AM - Independence Day Parade & Firecracker 50

The Independence Day Parade will take place on Main Street between Watson and Park Avenue. Dress in your favorite patriotic gear and get there early to grab the perfect viewing spot on Main Street. The Firecracker 50 is a spectacular race that starts with a parade! The 50-mile mountain bike race will lead off the parade at 9:30 am and then send the participants to enjoy some of Breckenridge's best back-country trails. There will be 4,000-foot climbs, thrilling descents, and more! There is limited availability; we recommend registering early.

11:00AM - 4:00PM - Surfin' USA

Enjoy the beach and celebrate Independence Day Breck style at the Ridge Street Art Square. This event is free and open to the public; no registration is required. Enjoy tubular tunes, a dog fashion show, patriotic tie-dye, beach games, an annual chalk art contest, a lip sync battle, and more! Don't forget to wear your best Hawaiian shirt! 6:00 PM - Annual NRO Concert

Located at the Riverwalk Center, the doors open at 5:30 pm, and the concert starts at 6:00 pm. The National Repertory Orchestra (NRO) puts on a great show that the whole family will enjoy. The NRO changes the lives of young musicians and enriches the lives of Colorado residents and visitors.

Stay A Whole Week For More Fun

The fun doesn't just begin and end on July 4th. The whole week has fun events to enjoy. Head over to the Main Street Station (located on South Main Street) for an art festival. The show will feature top artists in 13 categories. The artists will be present so you can chat with them about their work and witness demonstrations. The show will be 10 am - 6 pm from July 7-9. You can also enter the kids (ages 1-5) in the Kingdom Park Strider Bike Race. There are two courses, one is just around the bases at the field, and the other is around the entire field. Stay after the race for music, medals, food, and prizes! Check out local happenings that week. There are also plenty of options for drop-in classes, live local music, and tours.
