First, Three Things to Know for the 2026/2027 Season
Projected opening day is November 7, 2026. Breckenridge opens when conditions allow rather than on a fixed date, with Peak 8 opening first on limited terrain and more coming online through November and December.
The season runs long. Breck typically stays open into mid or late May, one of the longest in North America, so April slopeside stays are genuinely good value.
Peak 9 improvements are approved but not built. A planned new gondola out of the Maggie base, a relocated beginner learning area and a high-speed six-person replacement for the old C-Chair will eventually transform the resort's busiest portal. It remains pending final approvals with no confirmed construction schedule, so book your 2026/2027 stay around the mountain as it is today.

Peak 9 Base and the Village
Best for: families, first-timers, and walking to Main Street
The busiest and most convenient portal on the mountain, and the one closest to downtown. Around 43% of Breckenridge skiers use Peak 9, which tells you how well connected it is. You are steps from the Quicksilver and Beaver Run SuperChairs, and a short walk from Maggie Pond, Main Street Station and the shops and restaurants of Main Street.
Beginner and intermediate terrain sits right here, which makes it the natural choice with kids or anyone learning. It is also the liveliest base, so if you want quiet, look further up the hill.

Peak 8 Base and Ski Hill Road

Higher up the mountain and a genuinely different feel. The trade-off: it is a drive or a gondola ride from downtown restaurants, and it is the coldest and windiest of the base areas.
The Four O'Clock and Snowflake Corridor
Best for: quiet, space, and the classic ski-home run
This is the sleeper pick. The Four O'Clock Run is a long, scenic descent that drops skiers back toward town, and the properties along its corridor and near the Snowflake Lift offer real quiet while keeping genuine ski access.
