The location and resort were great, but I would not recommend booking with Great Western Lodging.
Within 2 minutes of turning on the electric stove to cook dinner on our first of two nights, it made a very loud popping noise and the power went out in the whole unit. We tried the breakers and went down to the front desk and were told they couldn’t help us with an outside unit. We called an emergency line and after some back and forth where they suggested we’d have to wait overnight for an electrician, they were eventually able to find us another unit in the complex.
We packed all our things in the dark, using our phones as flashlights, and carried everything across the resort (two buildings away). We finally got settled into the new unit at nearly 10pm with two cranky kids.
When I contacted GW to ask if they would be discounting our stay, their response was no and that “sometimes power outages happen.” This was not a power outage; this a was a malfunctioning stove in the unit.Elizabeth - Posted: 7/6/2025
We’re truly sorry you experienced a power outage during your stay—it’s never something we want our guests to go through. After your departure, we were able to confirm that the issue wasn’t related to the stove in the unit but was instead caused by a building breaker failure. Unfortunately, the breaker box is located in a locked closet and is managed by the building itself, so the repair was out of our hands. It has since been resolved.
We’re glad we were able to move you to a new unit with power within a few hours, and we appreciate your flexibility during the transition. Since we acted quickly to resolve the situation and ensured you were taken care of, your reservation did not qualify for an additional refund. We do want to assure you that we handled everything within our responsibility as promptly as possible.
Thank you again for staying with us, and we hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back under better circumstances.Great Western Lodging staff
